I was absent in December because I was working 50+ hours for work since Thanksgiving week, and before that, since my mother’s hospitalization in August and September, blogging has taken a back seat to life in general. I wanted to see, with my limited time reading and listening, how I ended the year in terms of goals set in January 2021.

One of the reading goals I decided on after I picked the ones below was getting 50 reviews for NetGalley for my next badge. I think I started the year with just over 25 reviews, and I finished my 49th last month. I posted my 50th NetGalley book earlier today, so I was only a day late on that one. 🙂

My other reading has fallen by the wayside, namely my Nancy Drew books. I’m currently on #31, The Ringmaster’s Secret, which was always one of my favorites growing up. I want to make sure I’m in the mood and have the time to move forward with my reading of my favorite teen sleuth. After all, I started re-reading my Nancy Drews since lockdown started in March 2020, and have struggled at times with reading both the Original Text and then the Revised Text, so to make it easier I just concentrated on the OTs because I haven’t read them before. I haven’t touched Nancy in several months.

As for the other challenges, the Library Love Reading Challenge. My goal was to read 36 books from the library, and I spectacularly failed this challenge. I only finished 12 books because of my focus on NetGalley ARCs.

Next is the 2021 Audiobook Challenge. My goal was Marathoner, or listening to 50+ books. Since I can listen to audiobooks at work, this has been no problem. I reviewed 57 audiobooks but have probably listened to 100.

Next is my Goodreads Reading Challenge for 2021. My goal was to read or listen to 100 books. I finished the year with 120. Yay, another one completed.

Had my mom not gotten sick, I’m sure I would have done better with my challenges, but that’s life. And while I’m able to listen to audiobooks at work, finding the time to blog about them is at a minimum. I’m still not sure if I’m going to set goals for 2022 because of the state of my life, so stay tuned!
