Music Monday is a meme that was created by Drew from The Tattooed Book Geek. I saw it at Carrie’s Book Reviews and _For Book’s Sake. You pick a song and/or video and share it on Mondays to change things up a little.
It’s not often when singers than span generations work together. You may recall Frank Sinatra’s Duets in the 1980’s, Barbara Streisand’s in the 1990’s, and Tony Bennett’s in the 2000’s. But my favorite pairing has always been Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra. They performed on the radio quite a few times, and starred in one of my favorite movies, High Society (Amazon) with Grace Kelly. And in 1957, Bing co-starred with Frank Sinatra on a Christmas program, Happy Holidays with Bing and Frank which can be found on DVD here.
Bing Crosby had been singing Irving Berlin’s White Christmas since 1942, when the movie Holiday Inn (Amazon) was made, and then later re-made as White Christmas (Amazon). It was an instant classic. It’s been said that it’s the best selling song of all time. But this pairing with Frank Sinatra is special, merging two generations of crooners for a delightful performance.
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the tree tops glisten
And children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all
Your Christmases be white
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the tree tops glisten
And children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases
May all your Christmases
May all your Christmases
May all your Christmases be white
I’m dreaming of a white
Christmas with you
Jingle Bells
All the way, all the way
