Music Monday is a meme that was created by Drew from The Tattooed Book Geek. I saw it at Carrie’s Book Reviews and _For Book’s Sake. You pick a song and/or video and share it on Mondays to change things up a little.
One of my favorite country albums of all time is Trio by Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris. A close second is Trio II put out a decade later. All the women are powerhouses in their own right, but the fact that they’ve been performing together off and on for 40 years is amazing. “After the Gold Rush” is just one of the many amazing songs they’ve performed together over the years. This performance just shows their immense talent. I recently bought The Complete Trio Collection, which is 3 CDs of both albums plus previously unreleased versions of several songs, as well as many others that didn’t make the first two albums.
“After The Goldrush”
Well, I dreamed I saw the knights in armor coming,
Saying something about a queen.
There were peasants singing and drummers drumming,
And the archer split the tree.
There was a fanfare blowing to the sun
That was floating on the breeze.

Look at Mother Nature on the run
In the nineteen seventies.
Look at Mother Nature on the run
In the nineteen seventies.
I was lying in a burned out basement
With the full moon in my eyes.
I was hoping for replacement
When the sun burst through the sky.
There was a band playing in my head,
And I felt like getting high.
I was thinking about what a friend had said.
I was hoping it was a lie.
Thinking about what a friend had said.
I was hoping it was a lie.
Well, I dreamed I saw the silver space ships flying
In the yellow haze of the sun.
There were children crying and colors flying
All around the chosen ones.
All in a dream, all in a dream
The loading had begun.
Flying Mother Nature’s silver seed to a new home in the sun.
Flying Mother Nature’s silver seed to a new home.
Music and lyrics by Neil Young
Did you know that Dolly Parton has a new Christmas CD, her first in 40 years? It’s called A Holly Dolly Christmas and it’s delightful. I highly recommend it if you collect Christmas music like I do!
