“Hillary Rodham Clinton and her daughter, Chelsea, share the stories of the gutsy women who have inspired them—women with the courage to stand up to the status quo, ask hard questions, and get the job done.”
It seems people either love the Clintons, or you hate the Clintons. If you’re a fan, you’ll love The Book of Gutsy Women, featuring the Clintons’ picks for gutsy women in several different categories. Both women inject their personal and political opinions into most of the stories, which is why I say that. I’ve voted both ways and find myself trying to read books from both sides of the aisle.
Some of the women I’d never heard of so I was happy to read about them. Some women I was very familiar with, and the Clinton women did justice to their biographies.
The one downside of The Book of Gutsy Women is that there are so many women mentioned, sometimes the synopsis of a particular woman left me wanting more information. Maybe if they had edited the number of women down but wrote more lengthy studies it would have been better. But still, pretty good.
Bonus points for the Clinton women writing enthusiastically about Nancy Drew and Barbara Mertz’s Amelia Peabody Emerson series, my favorite childhood books and my favorite adult mysteries.
