Today only, Amazon is offering up to 80% off select Kindle titles. I was very happy to see some of these titles, since I already have them and highly recommend them.
Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine and the Murder of a President by Candice Millard $2.99 Less than 20 years after President Lincoln was assassinated, another president was shot. When President Garfield was shot, he didn’t die right away. He lingered for months. This book excels at telling the story of Garfield’s ascendancy to the presidency, and the bungled way the doctors in charge of Garfield’s care actually caused his death, not the bullet inside his body.
Grateful American: A Journey from Self to Service by Gary Sinise $3.99 Gary Sinise is an award-winning actor who cemented his place in Hollywood with his role in Forrest Gump. This New York Times best seller travels through Sinise’s life and how he found his reason for living: to see that servicemen and women who defend our country are never forgotten.
Three James Herriot Classics: All Creatures Great and Small, All Things Bright and Beautiful, and All Things Wise and Wonderful $2.99 Three books for only $2.99, what a deal! Not long ago I bought four of the five James Herriot classics at a reduced price, but All Creatures Great and Small was not among them. So I’m very happy to see it included in this set at a fantastic price. I’ve read these books several times and they never cease to entertain me The stories of a simple country vet in England are charming, funny, and full of life. Any animal lover would get a kick out of this collection.
