Kindle Deal of the Day: The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher

Today’s Kindle Deal of the Day is The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher at only $1.99. Known forever to Star Wars fans young and old alike as Princess Leia, this book centers around the making of the iconic film.

My mom was a huge Debbie Reynolds fan and I’ll never forget the Mother’s Day when we went to see Reynolds in concert at Manitowoc’s Capitol Civic Center. So I’ve always known her daughter, Carrie Fisher. Beyond the Star Wars franchise, she was a very witty writer. I very much enjoyed Wishful Drinking and Shockaholic because she was very honest (and funny) about her life and her struggles with mental illness. I highly recommend the audio book versions of Fisher’s books, because she narrates them herself.

Carrie Fisher discovered her old journals, and some of them were written while she was making Star Wars. The Princess Diarist explores and excerpts those journals along with Fisher’s own recollections of making Star Wars.

Fair warning, if you like Harrison Ford, you’re going to like him a bit less after reading this book. A married man, getting involved with an impressionable younger woman, well, that just makes him an ass in my opinion.

The Princess Diarist briefly explores Fisher’s life before she was cast as Princess Leia, her time on the movie with diary excerpts and all the details of her affair with Harrison Ford, and her life post-Star Wars and what it meant to her.

The Princess Diarist is only $1.99 on Kindle right now.
